Choosing the Right Data Recovery Company If Your Hard Disk Fails
by NEW SHAFA
Let’s face it. Life’s full of ups and downs. It’s full of uncertainties. Just like your precious data. If anything, data stability is not permanent. In fact, more often than not, data drives tend to crash and burn and leave you in the lurch when you least expect it.
As we know, data is delicate and is subject to loss due to many reasons. The most common reasons for data drive failure are a virus, a poorly ventilated casing, actual component failure, damage to your hard drive, a hard disk crash or a power surge. It’s highly possible that your data can be lost for any of these reasons. The best way to avoid getting hurt by data loss is to regularly back-up your data. You can schedule a fixed time for this every day or at fixed regular intervals. There is a lot of software out there that allows you to do this automatically. Make sure you backup data or else you will end up needing the services of a hard disk data recovery software or a company that specializes in HDD data recovery if simple solutions fail to recover your drive’s data.
Now, just in case you have somehow managed to have a serious hard disk failure, and need to call a data recovery company, here are some pointers to help you along the way. First and foremost, make sure you call in a data recovery company that is well known and known to specialize in data recovery. Make sure that it is not an additional service that they provide along with many others. When you call them in, make sure that they provide a no-fix no-charge policy. This means that they will not be able to charge you unless they can recover your data partially or completely, and is a very fair system of quoting for recovering your data.
Just a no-fix no-fee policy is not enough. Make sure you get a fixed quote in writing clearly outlining different slabs of data retrieval and the charges for the same. You should know exactly what you are getting into before they begin recovering your data. Also, make sure that the company has a clean room and qualified technicians who are capable of handling your drive without causing further damage to your data.
And yes. Never believe anyone who promises you the whole world. In fact, don’t believe any company who promises great results. There’s no such thing. When you are facing data loss, you have to face the bitter truth that your data is lost forever before you call in the data recovery company. The sooner you accept this the better. This is why you should never believe any company who claims they can recover your data for sure, as it is but a slim possibility in the first place.
Keep these basic rules in mind, and you will be able to find the right data recovery company to help you get your data back.

Online accounting system Versus Window accounting software
Online accounting system Versus Window accounting software
by KOK CHOON KOW
While conventional window accounting software has dominated computing world for the last 20 years, online accounting system has be spreading rapidly with the introduction of ASP (Application Service Provider) or SaaS (Software as a service).
The best part of SaaS is the cross-platform and information availability anytime anywhere. To ease of deployment and maintenance has drive online accounting to spread very fast, with the introduction of Web 2.0 even bring this further.
The biggest challenge of all time for SaaS will be security and privacy concern. Conventional customer has been used to stored and backup their data by themselves. To convince / introduce online accounting will post the question of data security. To provide such promise and reduce the customer risk of data lost, vendor must provides some backup mechanism and allow customer to download their own backup data. If online accounting vendor can provides such mechanism, we can see the domination of online accounting system (or SaaS) in the next 10 years.
The biggest advantages for SaaS compared to conventional software is the Rental business modal; Instead of owning the software, the user now rent the software as service, enjoying the newest feature at all time while maintaining the lowest cost of ownership. Online vendor must have a very targeted and flexible plan for pricing strategy, as there is a breakeven point where company will buy the system rather than rent it when they have lots of user!
Conventional accounting system must prepare to migrate to SaaS model before online vendor started to solve and convince the user about security and backup risk.

Get Files From RAR and ZIP Instantly Without Decompression
Get Files From RAR and ZIP Instantly Without Decompression

The latest version of WinMount lets you mount not only ISO images, but also ZIP and RAR archives on virtual drives and get their content without decompression
SUZHOU, P.R. China - August 23, 2007 - WinMount International, Inc. today announces the immediate availability of WinMount 2.0, the new edition of its optical disk emulation software, letting users mount images on virtual CD / DVD drive and play them without the need for physical disks. Unique to WinMount is an additional feature that allows you to mount ZIP or RAR archives and get files from them instantly without decompression.
Similar to most popular CD emulators, WinMount supports a large choice of image formats, such as ISO, CUE/BIN, CCD,BWT, MDS, CDI, NRG, PDI B5T, ISZ, but what makes it really stand out is an ability to mount ZIP and RAR archives and get their content instantly without decompression. The decompression task can be very daunting especially if you need to unpack a large archive. For example, a 1 GB installation package of a game takes about 10 minutes to unpack. But with WinMount in place, you can access the content of the archive instantly after you have mounted it, which is a snap. Simply right-click on the archive, select "Mount to a new drive" from the popup menu, and in a second you can get files in the archive directly without any unpacking hassle. The program can mount solid and multi-volume archives, and for RAR files, it uses its proprietary dynamic decompression technology.
Some other important benefits of WinMount
The best in having a CD / DVD emulator like WinMount is that you don't have to be a prisoner to your CD-ROM that can play only one disk at a time. With Winmount, you can play two, three or more disks simultaneously without the hassle of ejecting and reloading them one after another. Simply create images and mount them on virtual drives with WinMount. Because these images are launched from the hard drive, they run faster than physical disks.
Another good thing about WinMount is safety of data. People who have expensive disks can create their images and store them safely on the hard drive for life whereas physical disks may become useless and inaccessible after catching a slight scratch.
Enhancements to new WinMount 2.0
The new edition of WinMount comes with a number of refinements, including an original dynamic decompression technique in dealing with RAR, a brand new core and friendlier interface. Some minor bugs found in earlier releases have been fixed too. According to Thomas King, manager at WinMount International, WinMount is becoming increasingly popular and customer requests are driving its authors to include new features. In the nearest future, the company is planning to add support for mounting HTTP, FTP, Ghost disk image files, VMWare images, mounting Inno setup and Install Shield archive files.
Pricing and Availability
WinMount 2.0 runs under Windows NT, 2000, 2003, XP, Vista and costs $39 (USD) for a single user license. Registered users are entitled to free upgrades for the life of the product, free technical support by email or via WinMount Support Sites worldwide. Additional information on the product, as well as its free evaluation copy is available from www.winmount.com.

Deciding whether to trick
Deciding whether to trick
by SERDAR AKTAS
Should you use the tricks in this chapter, and if not, why not? You’ll hear several reasons for not using tricks. The first I’m not going to belabor, because I’m not sure the argument behind this reason is very strong: ethics. You’ll hear from many people that the tricks in this chapter are unethical, that those who use them are cheating and one step on the evolutionary ladder above pond scum (or one step below pond scum, depending on the commentator). Self-righteousness is in ample supply on the Internet. Maybe these people are right, maybe not. I do know that many people who try such tricks also have great reasons for doing so and are not the Internet’s equivalent of Pol Pot or Attila the Hun. They’re simply trying to put their best foot forward in a difficult technical environment. Many people have tried search engine tricks because they’ve invested a lot of money in Web sites that turn out to be invisible to the search engines. These folks can’t afford to abandon their sites and start again. (See Chapter 7 for a discussion of why search engines sometimes can’t read Web pages.) You can, rightly so, point out that these folks can deal with the problem in other ways, but that just means the people involved are misinformed, not evil. The argument made by these tricksters might go something like this: Who gave the search engines the right to set the rules, anyway? One could argue that doing pretty much anything beyond the basics is cheating. After all, smart Webmasters armed with a little knowledge can make the sorts of adjustments discussed elsewhere in this book, pushing their Web sites up in the ranks above sites that are more appropriate for a particular keyword phrase yet are owned by folks with less knowledge. Ethics aside, the really good reason for avoiding egregious trickery is that it may have the opposite effect and harm your search engine position. And a corollary to that reason is that other, legitimate ways exist to get a good search engine ranking. (Unfortunately, these are often more complicated and time-consuming.)

Learn Excel - Where Is Excel® Used?
Learn Excel - Where Is Excel® Used?
by VIDEO PROFESSOR
Whether you work at an accounting firm, a marketing company, an auto dealership, a school attendance office, a manufacturing plant’s human resources department, or an office associated with city, county, state or federal government, chances are, you’ll be called upon to use and learn Excel.
Just about every workplace has a demand for Excel, the computing world’s most commonly used software program for comparative data analysis. Excel has been available in various incarnations for more than a decade. Each subsequent release takes the program to new territory.
Popularly known as the best spreadsheet program on the market, Excel is powerful, easy to use, and remarkably efficient. Excel is highly interactive. Its spreadsheet cells are arranged in a collection of rows and columns, each of which can hold a number, a text string, or a formula that performs a function, such as calculation. It’s easy to copy and move cells as well as modify formulas. The spreadsheet is displayed on the computer screen in a scrollable window that allows the document to be as deep or as wide as required.
Working for a major newspaper in Northern California, I was one of several reporters involved in the annual evaluation of our county’s economy. The job involved collecting data that would be punched into Excel spreadsheets that ultimately ranked information according to the category of statistics being reviewed.
The beauty of Excel, from the standpoint of newspaper research projects, is that you can use formulas to recalculate results by changing any of the cells they use. With this model, you can use the same spreadsheet data to achieve various results by simply defining and changing formulas as desired. It is this feature that makes Excel so useful in so many different arenas.
With a click of the mouse, we reporters were able to get answers to a wide variety of questions. Which employers had the greatest number of workers? Which ones had the highest amount of gross annual receipts? Which ones appeared to be growing and which ones had declining sales? What was the volume of real estate loans and had there been a decline or increase from the previous year?
We looked at local and national retail, services, financial institutions, government entities, agriculture, the wine industry, tourism and hospitality, manufacturing, residential and commercial real estate, everything imaginable.
Excel allowed us to examine ratios, percentages, and anything else we wanted to scrutinize. Finally, we were able to use Excel to compare the results to data from previous years.
Since reporters tend to be former English majors, most of those who worked on this annual project were more familiar with Microsoft® Word than any other software program. Therefore, most were required to undergo Excel training. For some, learning Excel was easier than for others. A few relied on guides such as Microsoft Excel Bible or Excel for Dummies. Some reporters underwent an Excel tutorial while others learned by doing.
Not only were the Excel spreadsheets crucial to the research, the format of each was published in the newspaper. Here is where some additional Excel functions came into play. Editors were able to make the spreadsheets more visually appealing by using colors and shading, borders and lines, and other features that made the spreadsheets easy for readers to decipher.
Wearing another of my several hats in the newsroom, I often wrote articles concerning the local job market. I found proficiency in Excel was a requirement for a wide variety of employment positions and that area recruiting firms offered their clients opportunities to take free or low-cost Excel tutorials in preparation for the workplace. Most employers expect job candidates to already know the software that the work will require and don’t want to have to train new hires.
Don’t kid yourself. If you’re seeking any kind of office work, you’ll need to know not only Microsoft Word but also Excel.

What makes a good requirement?
What makes a good requirement?
by LYNDON HARDY
What Makes a Good Requirement?
Most project teams know the importance of gathering requirements -- what the project is to accomplish -- and analyzing them before starting out. A good set of requirements is the foundation upon which a successful project is built. Ill-formed requirements lead to misunderstandings, rework, and, potentially, total project failure. But what is a “good” requirement? Certainly, like all the other elements of project documentation, it must be clear and succinct. But in addition, a good requirement is testable, assignable, and cost-effective.
Testable
We all probably have been on projects with requirements that read something like “The product shall be easy to use.” Ease of use is desirable to be sure. And if the final product is not, the project team will certainly hear about it. But stating this desire as a requirement gives no real guidance on how to proceed. During the course of design and construction there is no objective way of measuring how well the team is satisfying it. It is just verbiage that gets in the way and creates expectations that might not be realized. If a requirement is not testable, it is not a requirement. It has to be fixed. It is as simple as that. If you encounter an untestable requirement during requirement analysis, you can fix it in one of two ways. First, you can rework it so that it does become testable. Useability requirements are particularly hard in this regard of course, but even something like “Eighty percent of a test group shall rate ease of use at least a 4 on a scale of 1 to 5” is superior to “The product shall be easy to use”. The reworking does not guarantee a great design but it is something that the project team can work towards during development, testing, and user acceptance. The second way to handle an untestable requirement is to move it to the goals or objectives section of the requirement document. You do not want to get rid of the desire all together so the thought does need a home --- but not as a requirement.
Assignable
Eventually the final product of the project is tested against the list of (hopefully) testable requirements. Often it is discovered that not only do some requirements fail because of flaws but also because, oops, the functionality was just never implemented. Good practice, of course, is to ensure that each and every requirement is assigned to an element of the design. This can be a multi-step process in which requirements are first assigned to the top-level elements. Then within each element they are further assigned to sub-elements, continuing down to the purview of the single individual responsible for a portion of the design or implementation. A rigorous application of assignment helps ensure that no requirement is forgotten. But even with rigorous assignment, requirements can still “fall between the cracks”. One of the main reasons this happens is that some requirements, as written, are applicable at a high level and no designer ownership is ever assigned.
For example for a software project, “The response time from pressing the Enter key until the screen updates shall be less than one second” is a testable requirement. The problem is that the delay consists of input verification on a client computer, network messaging, application server processing, network messaging again, and finally client presentation. Each of these pieces of the design might be the responsibility of a different individual. There is no ownership of the requirement. The solution to this problem is to create what are called derived requirements. Derived requirements are children of a parent requirement. If all of them are satisfied than the parent requirement is satisfied as well. In the example, the derived requirements could be “Input verification shall be less than .1 second” and so on for the rest with the total for all of the pieces summing to 1 second. Specifying the allocated delays is a hard problem. A project team often can only guess. But by doing so, requirements can be assigned to individual elements. Every designer knows his responsibility. During testing the allocated times can be shifted as needed. The key point is that no requirement falls between the cracks.
Cost-Effective
Not all requirements are created equal. Some are easy to implement, such as “Name, street, city, zip, and state shall be displayed”. Others are complex, hard to implement and hard to test, such as “When the system loading exceeds 80%, the backup process shall be initiated which copies all in-memory records to disk”. Although it is impossible to do this in reality, consider the thought experiment in which you assigned the actual project cost to design, develop, and test every single requirement. Now sort these costs from the least to the most expensive and sum them up, that is, create a graph of the cost of satisfying one requirement, then two, then three, and so on up until all of the requirements are satisfied, including the most costly ones. The curve you get would start off slowly and then grow increasingly sharper as you progress to more and more expensive requirements. Most of the requirements are satisfied reasonably.
A few, however, contribute a disproportionate amount to overall project cost. A cost-effective project only implements requirements up to where the curve begins to rise sharply. In real life we do not have such a quantitative curve, but usually we do have a gut feel for which the hard requirements are. You can do one of three things with these requirements. First, review just how important they are. They indeed might not be worth the cost. Second, move them to goals or objectives. Keep them around but not as requirements. Third, prototype them before beginning the major development effort. Often prototyping provides design insights that greatly reduce the final costs. Testable, assignable, cost-effective -- hallmarks of a good requirement. Checking for them is an essential part of requirement analysis.

Baby Monitors : Which one is Right for You?
Baby Monitors : Which one is Right for You?
by DENNIS JAYLON
Baby monitors are of great help to mothers with newborns and infant babies to take care of. With the help of this device, mothers can take care of their babies as well as manage other chores with consummate ease. She also does not need to keep fretting regarding her baby's well being when she is not around him.
Baby monitors are available in a variety of designs having several features. It is extremely important to choose the right baby monitor that is appropriate for your home and your baby. Here are some features available in baby monitors. Mothers can choose the one that suits their needs the best.
Baby monitors are available in one way and two way systems. In a one way system, you can hear your baby; but in a two way one your baby can hear you as well. Video baby monitors are also available having a small screen, where the mother can see her baby, irrespective of where she is around the house.
Every baby monitors has a limited range, outside which they cannot receive the signals, hence they become non-functional. While buying baby monitors, mothers need to take into account the size of the house, or the maximum range within which they could be away from their babies. The size of the house is one thing that needs to be kept in mind while purchasing baby monitors. A small home may suffice with one that has less range, while a bigger home will certainly require one with more range. Some baby monitors have difficulty in transmitting signals through thick concrete walls. Hence, this factor should also be borne in mind while buying one.
Portability is a necessary feature in baby monitors. It is advisable to go for lightweight models that are easy to carry around, and probably equipped with a clip to attach the receiver to your clothes and belts. These days, baby monitors come with more than one channel to deal with transmission problems and interruptions, which may be caused due to the use of mobile and cordless phones at home or even in the neighbourhood.
Choosing the right baby monitor depends upon a lot of factors, like the size of the house, the locality where you live and the duration for which you might be away from your baby. Once you have realised these factors, it will become very easy to buy the appropriate baby monitor.

How Spyware Spies
How Spyware Spies
Author: Kelly Liyakasa
More and more PC owners are realizing the impact of spyware in their operating systems and are taking the necessary actions in undoing the damage by installing spyware removal software. But what is the real reason we need such software and how does spyware actually trace our cyber behavior? There are plenty of fundamentals to know before choosing anti-spyware software.
For starters, spyware records your every activity, from keystrokes and file sharing activity, to what you say in your emails and IM’s. Most of the time, these aren’t for malicious purposes and are tagged ‘adware.’ In many cases, your web browsing activity is useful to advertisers in their marketing campaigns, as they can track your purchase decisions and scope out their competitors.
However, spyware can be malicious and can be transmitted through ‘bundling’ or Internet browser deficiencies. In other words, a security flaw can open doors for spyware programs to attach themselves to your PC or your information is given to software publishers by spyware companies themselves for payment.
6StarReviews.com reports that popular anti-spyware software STOPzilla targets spyware from all directions. This program not only scans for commonly known and discreet adware and spyware, it prevents browser hijacks and phishing attempts, which are typical when spyware is prevalent in your operating system. In order to protect your important files and confidential information, it’s vital to implement spyware removal software.
Things not to Do in a Website Designing
Things not to Do in a Website Designing
Author: Namrita Chhibber
A successful website means a flawless website designing. Website designing is a task which can either make or break a website. Often while designing a website people take care of things to do, steps to follow but avoid taking care of things not do and end up making simple errors.
Like any other task, website designing has its ‘not to do’ list too. These steps talk about simple things that on avoiding can create mistakes in a web designing program.
Do not ignore the importance of right key words
Key words the path of search of website. If you have a website with products to sell or information to display then you need to call it with right and appropriate key words and also use similar keywords inside the content in order to make it reachable and searchable for your customers or visitors. Do not use words that are flashy and trendy but do not define or give a clear idea of what your website is about. Such mistakes harms the website by not coming in search engines list, i.e. a customer might be using some other key words for his search where as you might be using another key word for your site.
Do not rely on a simple and plain textual presentation
You may be aiming towards presenting information or article based website but do not ignore the fact that lain or boring look pushes a visitor towards another site where he or she can find both the text and look. Do not rely on something which may be informational but a total opposite to attractive, thus it is highly advisable to support your text or content with appealing and scanable additions such as
Keywords with highlighted text
Bullets and paragraphs
Different font for the headings, sub heading and text.
Do not use any design that resembles an advertisement format
Often web surfer while searching for a text or surfing a site use a quick glance to check if the website has what they want or not. Thus using an advertisement format for their design a website fails to woo the surfer due to misapprehension of content with an advertisement by the web user.
Do not mess up with the font sizes
Font sizes make a design appealing and help to distinguishing between heading, sub heading or a paragraph. It also enhances the readability factor by a visitor.
Do not push too much of creativity
Use a required level of creativity and layout presentation i.e. do not tend to overdo the presentation and appearance of a page. Do not avoid the change of color of visited links. This change helps to differentiate between the page visited and those not visited.
A successful website means enhanced business. And to make sure that you get your website designed effectively, do take care of things you should and should not do.
Your Business Can Suffer Due to Absence of Digital Certificate on your Website
Your Business Can Suffer Due to Absence of Digital Certificate on your Website
Author: Maya Gupta
It is very important to take the protection against online information larceny, because it's getting very easy for people to share digital products. Information theft is a type of computer safety and security risk and it's defined as thieving someone’s private or confidential information. It’s very dangerous to get the information stolen as this can cause as much damage, or possibly more then hardware or software theft.
Most of the systems on the way of your data can see what you send. A lot of companies try to stop information from being stolen by applying some user identification and authentication controls.
These constrictions are most promising for protecting computers along a company's premise. However, to protect information on the Internet and on networks, companies use a handful of encryption methods like digital certificates and SSL security. SSL is an industry standard and is used by millions of websites in the protection of their online transactions with their customers. Encryption refers to the process of converting data into an unreadable form. Encrypted data is like any other data because you can send it through a lot of options, but to read it you must decrypt or decipher it into a more readable form with the help of public and private keys provided. Throughout the encryption process, the unencrypted data or input is known as plaintext and the encrypted data, or output is known as cipher text. To be able to create an SSL connection a web server requires an SSL Certificate. When you choose to activate SSL on your web server you will be prompted to complete a number of questions about the identity of your website and your company. Your web server then creates two cryptographic keys - a Private Key and a Public Key. To encrypt information, the programmer converts the plaintext into cipher text using some type of encryption key. An encryption key is the programmed formula that the person who receives the data uses to decrypt the cipher text. There are varieties of encryption or algorithm methods. However, with an encryption key formula, you will be using more then one of these techniques.
Most common example is a nasty individual stealing credit cards so they can make illegal purchases on another person's account. If information is transmitted over a network then it has a very high chance for nasty users to capture the information.
A digital signature is a type of encrypted code that an individual, website, or company pastes to an electronic document to make sure that the individual is who they claim to be. The code will most likely consist of the user name and a hash of usually part of the message. The complexities of the SSL protocol remain invisible to your customers. Instead, their browsers provide them with a key indicator to let them know they are currently protected by an SSL encrypted session - the lock icon in the lower right-hand corner, clicking on the lock icon displays your SSL Certificate and the details about it. All SSL Certificates are issued to either companies or legally accountable individuals. The main purpose behind using digital signatures is to make sure that it's not a swindler participating in the transaction. So, digital signatures help narrow down e-mail frauds. A digital signature can also make sure that contents of a message have not been changed.
Typically, an SSL Certificate will contain your domain name, your company name, your address, your city, your state and your country. It will also contain the expiration date of the Certificate and details of the Certification Authority responsible for the issuance of the Certificate. When a browser connects to a secure site it will retrieve the site's SSL Certificate and check that it has not expired, it has been issued by a Certification Authority the browser trusts, and that it is being used by the website for which it has been issued.
Many ecommerce websites will usually have digital certificates. A certificate authority (CA) is an authorized company or individual for that matter that has the ability to issue and verify digital certificates. There are several of websites that offer a digital certificate. One of the popular Global Certification authorities is MindGenies (www.sslgenie.com).

Survey Software – Making your Life Easy!
Author: Christine Macguire
Information technology has revolutionized every sphere of life and businesses today are making more accurate decisions by virtue of increased availability of information. One of the prime concerns that most businesses faced was how to gather data; if it is not something that is available in their own system, collecting data from external sources was often a painful and costly affair. However, the scenario has changed today.
Today we have numerous software solutions available for conducting surveys. These survey software solutions are easy to use, affordable and make it a child’s play to gather information. Some of them would even analyze the gathered data according to user requirements and makes it all the more easy for the decision makers to make the correct choice.
Good quality survey software would help the surveyor with designing the survey, set answer choices, sends the survey to the target audience, collects and stores results, analyzes the results and present them to the surveyor in a user friendly, easy to comprehend fashion.
There are various hosted solutions for survey software and there is also software that you can host and run on your own server. Businesses often prefer this software particularly when the data collected through the survey form are critical for the business.
Today web based survey software solutions have enabled fast and easy surveys and this has probably been taken a step further by some of the survey software that can even deliver a survey form directly to the inbox of a target audience. They can fill it in just as they would fill any normal form on the web and can send back the filled form to the surveyor by a simple click of mouse. The users don’t even need to go to any specific URL or website to take the survey. The entire process is completed from his inbox.
As with any useful product, there are a lot of companies that provide almost similar software, often with no apparent difference, however, while making a purchase decision it is important that you make an educated choice and buy the survey software that meets your requirements to the tee. If your requirements are very simple, a simple survey software solution with some limited free usage deal might serve the purpose however, if you have serious long-term objectives you would probably need to buy a professional online survey software. Before making a buying decision you should check the various survey software solutions available in the market, make a comparative study of them and match your requirements to their offerings. You can also make use of the helpful website Survey Software Reviews, because it provides detailed comparative studies of various survey software solutions so that your work becomes easy.
So, no more need to slog through laborious survey creation and data management, because now you can pick a survey software that suits your needs and you can have all the functionality you need instantly!

About ERP
An Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system is a single unified system developed for an organization for integrating all aspects of data and processes related to it. An ERP system covers all the basic functions of an organization, regardless of the organization's business or charter. It began as a group of applications or software focusing on combining multiple systems into one integrated system where data could be shared across the enterprise, presumably reducing redundant data entry and processes.
An ERP system is a software package, which provides the functionality of an organization in a single package that would be covered by two or more systems. For example, a software package that provides both Payroll and Accounting functions such as QuickBooks is considered as an ERP software package. The software attempts to integrate all departments and functions across a company onto a single computer system that serves all those departments’ particular needs. Building a single software program that serves the needs of people in finance as well as the people in human resources and in the warehouse is a tall order. Each of those departments has its own computer system optimized for the particular ways that the department does its work. But ERP combines them all together into a single, integrated software program that runs off a single database so that the various departments can share information and communicate with each other more easily.
The term ERP originally implies system designed to plan the utilization of enterprise-wide resources. Although the acronym ERP originated in the manufacturing environment, today's use of the term has much broader scope. A typical ERP system would replace two or more independent applications of an organization by eliminating the external interfaces previously required between systems and provide additional benefits which range from standardization and lower maintenance, to easier or greater reporting capabilities.
The need to undergo an ERP project is seen not only as an opportunity to integrate data systems but also to redefine processes in the interest of gaining efficiencies as well as to mote professional growth for employees by introducing new skills and knowledge in the areas of data management and procedures.
Selecting ERP software does not happen all of a sudden or as a result of an overnight's discussion. There is lot of base work that needs to be done in this regard. There are many reasons for the uncertainty, with the foremost being advent of Internet. This has expanded the scope of computers and redefined the technological changes in the business. As a result there is more expectations and demand, which were not seen earlier. Advancement in computing indirectly implies the advancement in ERP. Needless to say the constant updating and innovating have become the benchmark of ERP packages.

Making the Move From Html 4 to Xhtml and CSS
Making the Move From Html 4 to Xhtml and CSS
Author: 8run0
I originally taught myself HTML 4.0 a few years ago, but I found it difficult to make the transition to using xHTML with CSS (Cascading Style Sheets). However, due to being involved with a small website I was forced to make sense of it. In this article I will run through the practical implications of switching between the two, in other words what you will need to do to make your HTML work with stylesheets.
I’m not going to go over the history of xHTML here, but you should take note that there are many ‘tags’ that have been deprecated and should be avoided in when using xHTML.
The first important difference in xHTML comes in the form of its syntax. The language is case sensitive, so it is all written in lowercase, no more use of caps! Secondly, ‘tags’, or elements to be technical, are now classified into two types: those that 'contain' data, and those that are 'empty'. An example of the former might be a paragraph element, which has a closing tag. That which is in between these two tags is the 'contained data'. For instance, a sentence is understood to be data. An example of an empty tag could be a line break, and is written slightly differently than in HTML 4.0, instead of having a forward-slash just after the opening bracket the forward-slash must be written just before the closing bracket and must be preceded by a space. Other 'empty' types include the image element and the horizontal rule element .
Another point to bear in mind is that because xHTML is supposed to be compatible across various devices, all images must have alternative descriptions (which means you have to make use of the 'alt' attribute in image elements, it’s no longer just an option). Similarly, you'll be making extensive use of the 'id' attribute in xHTML (similar to the 'name' attribute, but used differently - see below).
The biggest hurdle for myself personally was learning the syntax of CSS. There are actually three ways of using CSS, of which one is to create a separate document with a .css extension. This file will contain all the styling attributes of the elements in your xHTML code. You can also place CSS in the ‘head’ element (using 'style' as an element), or you can embed it into an element anywhere in your code (for this you would use the ‘style’ attribute). Using an external file can be useful as changes made to this one document cascade throughout your entire website, hence eliminating the need to change the code on each page. The syntax basically consists of a 'selector', which can either be an 'id' selector, a class selector or a generic class selector . So, for instance, I've given an ‘img’ element the id "MyImg", then I go to my css section/file and create the selector #MyImg {}. Here's where the syntax comes in. the # symbol means that I've created an id selector, so what follows in the curly brackets will apply to all elements with the id "MyImg". An example might look something like this:
#MyImg {
width: 200px;
height: 100px;
border: 0px
}
Notice that I use a colon in place of the equals sign to assign values. If you fail to do this your styles will not be applied. Also, each attribute is followed by a semicolon which separates them. If you do not follow this syntax when using CSS your styling will not come into effect. The last thing you need to know to get started is how to link your external CSS document to your xHTML document. Just nest a element in your 'head' element and you're ready to go. There are plenty of new ways to perform tasks such as positioning in CSS. Have fun playing around with these new possibilities!

First, lets understand what is a Website.
A website is made up of a number of web pages, and these web pages are inter-connected by a single topic or several closely related topics.
There are many varieties of websites
+ a personal website
+ a business website
+ a government website

+ a blog....etc
You will find these web pages on a typical business website
+ a Home web page
+ a About Us web page
+ a Our Services/Products web page
+ a Contact Us web page
Here are 5 Things a Website Can Do for you.
1. Reach out to new customers and market
A website can help you to find and keep new customers, from around the world, at any time of the day or night.
2. Encourage repeat customers
You can use email and your website to keep your existing customers informed about your new products, articles, issues or upcoming events.
3. Save money and eco-friendly
By replacing printed collateral and mailings with a website and email, not only you save money on printing and postage, it is an extremely eco-friendly alternative to cutting down trees.

Changes in Education and Tutoring

If you think that the methods of tutoring and inadequate tutoring alternatives are the same as they were decades before. Well, then you are not familiar with the relationship of computer and online learning. Computer has become the ultimate link of communication for tutors and students that bring them together, no matter the time, no matter the place, no matter the distance. The latest technology of the 21st century has made it possible to bring together the tutor and student to the same virtual room, face to face, even though they may be thousand of miles apart. Some of Online institutes likes Snrytutors uses very advance technology of whiteboard where the students and the tutor interact with each other using text chat or voice chat. They share a special whiteboard where they can write free hand and see it live. Recall the days of driving to the tutor missing the sessions due to incessantly pouring rain, due to heavy traffic jams. You had to go with your child for tuition leaving your important work behind; at home or at office makes your feel like hell and you screamed at a feverish pitch that you hate these tutors. This kind of experiences has been mere memories of previous generation.
With the arrivals of new technology and online tutoring life has become much comfortable and hassle free. Online tutoring is an exact simulation of being tutored in person. It is one to one live tutoring and it has always been the most effective way of learning, the student gets full attention of the tutor and the tutor can explain the concept very easily to him. On-line tutoring provides maximum effectiveness, convenience, and flexibility to the students. The student learns from the comfort of his/her own home, which promotes an inner feeling of independence, and positively impacts their learning curve and success.
The students fight back to their intellectual background may get logic of trust and self assurance from the chance to gain knowledge from their own, modified, secluded on-line classroom. Education and computer provide instant help to people. The technology has increased learning efficiency for online tutoring. Do you remember the days when little Jack had a science test the next day and the same evening he realized that he did not understand the concept well? He would worriedly go to mom and dad and ask if they could help him and when they could not, he would start frightening and searching for the books related to that concept and trying to understand of their own. Online tutoring could have helped poor Jack as it is not influenced by day, distance and time. The students get on demand availability of on-line tutoring thanks to the universal computer system.
Nobody can deny the contribution of computer and internet to education and now it is easy to say that it is truly a new era of education. The computer has infiltrated the long-established ways of instructive coaching and has turned out to be an unbeaten means of learning for both tutor and student. The track and superiority of computer technology for instructive reasons can be imagined easily as we move toward the 22nd century. I believe that computer and education will be together in future and help the world.
How to Make Sure your Online Degree is Worth the Value?
How to Make Sure your Online Degree is Worth the Value?
Author: Jullie Harvard
Online education has made it possible for you to earn your degree online from your comfort home; you no more need to go to a physical university to obtain a degree. An online degree program can easily fit into your busy schedule and you don't need to travel to attend classes. Many online universities and traditional on-campus universities offer online degree programs, some of these universities are accredited universities and others are not. Your degree will be worth the value if it is from an accredited university; in contrary, it will be valueless if it is issued by diploma mills. How you are going to make sure that your online degree is NOT from a diploma mills?
Some of you may think that it is not a big deal as long as you have a related degree to apply for you dream job. You may be right if you are earning your online degree from a diploma mill in the early day, where those scams just start to penetrate into online education field and many employers did not know about them. But, awareness about diploma mills have been increased among employers; majority of employers will treat a degree from university that they have never heard of to be suspicious and will do a re-confirmation about your degree before they decide to hire you. If they found you are holding a "fake" degree which is issued by a diploma mill, you definitely will lose your chance to win the job position.
The most common fast-track degrees that can be earned with a minimum education cost are Life Experience degrees. You can gain credit for what you have learned in your job or any past experience; some of these Life Experience degree programs come with zero hour courses; others allow you to complete in a few days. Although there are online degree programs that count in you life experience, the credits from these life experience may just a small part of the total credit hours needed to complete the degree program. The rule of thumb, if it is too easy to get a degree, then it really is not worth the paper it is printed on.
In order to protect yourself from any trap of diploma mill and ensure your degree is worth the value, consider of taking a degree program that are:
* Required at least two years to complete the degree.
* From university that is listed in accreditation database of CHEA.org
* Followed degree courses and forget about life experience degrees

Learn Outlook - How to Create an Outlook® Express Backup
Author: Emil Malmberg
Most Windows® users should be familiar with Microsoft® Outlook Express. This email program is usually installed with the Windows operating system and is probably among the most commonly used email program today. While using Outlook Express is fairly easy, finding and backing up the emails can be a little more complicated; it is important to know and Learn Outlook and Outlook Express. Since there is a large number of files and folders on a normal computer running Windows the first problem is to find the files containing your emails. Outlook Express stores emails in .dbx files and there might be several different dbx files depending on how many email folders you have created in Outlook Express. If you are using Windows 98 you can probably locate your emails somewhere in the Windows directory. In Windows 2000 emails are usually stored somewhere in the user data folder.
Locating the email store folder
Locating where your emails are stored is one of the first steps to take to learn Outlook and Outlook Express. The easiest way to find out exactly where your emails are stored is to start Outlook Express, go to the tools menu and open the options dialog. In the option dialog select the maintenance page and click on the Store Folder button. Here you can find the path to the folder containing your emails. To open the folder, copy the path and paste in the address field of the windows file manager. You should see a number of dbx files and possibly some other files too. When using WinBackup you can simply skip this step since WinBackup automatically finds your emails and adds an email icon to User Data section if you are using Outlook Express. WinBackup also locates and backups your address book which if often not included in the email folder.
Backing up your emails
After locating the email folder you could include this folder in backups to backup your emails. Make sure that your backup program does not try to lock the files while running a backup since this will cause file-sharing problems whenever Outlook Express is running. If you are using WinBackup this should not be a problem since WinBackup does not attempt to lock files and can therefore backup your emails while outlook is running without causing any file sharing problems. You can also try to copy the emails to a new folder before running a backup to avoid file-sharing problems, or you could simply close Outlook Express whenever a backup operation is started.
Restoring your emails
To restore your emails, locate the email folder as described above and restore the email files to this folder. If you have reinstalled Windows you might have to restore the files to a different folder that could possibly cause some problems. If you are using WinBackup you can simply select the emails item on the restore page. WinBackup will automatically find the email folder and restore your emails. WinBackup can also restore your address book if you select this icon on the restore page. When restoring emails it is important to realize that any existing emails will be removed unless they are located in folders that do not exist in the backup.

Learn Photoshop - Formats of Files in Photoshop®
Learn Photoshop - Formats of Files in Photoshop®
Author: Lindsey Michael Miller
So you’ve gotten your brand new digital camera, and you’re ready to get out and take some pictures. But what’s the next step? Well, getting some form of Adobe® Photoshop (preferably Elements 3, or CS 2) is a great step in the right direction. Once you have the program installed, it wouldn’t hurt to pick up a Photoshop Tutorial for it.
The Photoshop Tutorial will help you to understand what the program is capable of, and how you can utilize its tools to their full capacity. What may not be answered, though, is which format it uses and saves in, and what advantages and disadvantages there are to the different file formats.
Photoshop has the ability to open and save several different types of files, but more importantly, you should be aware of why these types of files exist and how to use them to your best advantage. It is vital to know about the different types of files while you learn Photoshop. There are three basic things that concern file format, which will determine how you should save your file: quality of image, layering, and web use.
Quality of the Image:
When you’re taking your photos, you’ll want to use the highest pixel setting possible that your camera provides. For instance, if you have a 5.1 megapixel camera, then you should use that setting to capture your images—the higher the pixilation, the greater the quality. The thing to remember, though, is that the higher the quality, the larger the file. You do have the ability to change the size of the file straight from the camera, and should consult your manual if this is something you’d like to do.
It’s best to take your photos in as a raw image, and then convert to something smaller later, because you’ll have the best ability to manipulate the image when it’s the largest it can be. Once you’ve taken the photo, and imported it onto your computer, it can import as a .jpeg or .jpg, or as a raw image. It’s best to save the raw image, because you’ll lose some of the quality with the .jpg.
Layering:
Once you have the photo in your computer, the photo will usually open using your default program, so you’ll need to open Photoshop and then open the image. You’ll then have the ability to do all of your resizing, layering, and manipulation in the program itself.
If you save the image directly in Photoshop, it will save it as a .psd, .pdd, or .eps file. These formats will keep the file large and preserve all the layers, so keep that in mind when saving. If you’re going to rework the image at a later date, it’s best to save in this mode. If not, then you have some other choices.
The .tif or .tiff was frequently used with early scanners, and will preserve the majority of the quality, but it saves large files and are best used if submitting them to a publisher or a printer.
The .bmp, or a bitmap, is a Windows® file that creates good photos, but still creates a large file.
The .pdf is an Adobe Acrobat® file, and locks images and texts so that they can’t be further manipulated. If you want to create files like these, you’ll probably need to buy the full version of Adobe Acrobat.
Web Use:
The best file formats for Web use would, of course, need to be small file sizes. Many times, though, the compression takes out some of the range of color and the vibrancy of the photo.
Joint Photographic Experts Group - .jpg or .jpeg is probably the most popular Web form, because it compresses the file to a small size, but still allows for the display of millions of colors. Photoshop give you the ability to choose how compressed you want the image to be, and you’ll want to play around with Adobe Image Ready until you’ve found a small file size that doesn’t seem to lose any of the color and subtleties in the photo.
Portable Network Graphics or .png is a recently developed format that’s becoming popular for Web use. It compresses the files differently than .jpg does, but it leaves better quality photos. It has the capability to maintain millions of colors and transparencies, but still keep the file size relatively small. If you’re on a PC, though, bear in mind that Internet Explorer doesn’t support it.
Graphics Interchange format or.gif is the other popular Web form, but it’s not great for photos. It’s better for graphics and illustrations because it loads quickly and has the capacity for animation and transparent color.
This should be a helpful guideline to get you started in the digital photography and manipulation world. Allow yourself the time to explore all the possibilities of current programs and settings on your camera. Learning computer basics in the various photo editing programs can be a lot of hard work. If you want to be able to master everything immediately, you’ll only end up being frustrated.

Learn Windows - Should you Use Windows Update®?
Learn Windows - Should you Use Windows Update®?
Author: Elaine Landau
This question seems simple enough, but there are convincing arguments for both sides. If a person believes that by keeping their Windows as up-to-date as possible they are avoiding the latest and worst viruses, then using Windows Update is advisable. No one should feel insecure about his or her system. Many computer users see constant updating as a waste of time and ask, "If it’s not broken, why fix it?"
What is Windows Update?
Microsoft engineers are always striving to learn Windows in and out to improve their product by solving problems, killing bugs, and fixing backdoors in Windows. With every new version of Windows, previously detected problems have been solved and cutting-edge solutions have been put in place.
But even the most high-tech version of Windows, Windows Vista®, is vulnerable to hackers. Microsoft actually has a posse of white hat hackers whose purpose is to learn Windows XP, learn Windows Vista, and breach Windows to determine vulnerabilities. Then there are the usual hackers who get perverse pleasure out of breaching Windows. In those cases, unless those breaches are reported to the Microsoft folks, the vulnerabilities will remain.
One complication.
Do you know if your Windows is store-bought or pirated? A lot of computer users have no idea. The answer to that question will affect whether or not you want to update your system.
Size matters.
Those who think updating Windows is a good idea tend to be large businesses with intranets. The truth is, one bad virus can infect an entire n

Investment Record-keeping: Tips to Prevent Quicken® From Making you Crazy
Author: Sheri Graves
You're the kind of person who prefers a hands-on approach to investments. You like to choose your own stocks, bonds and mutual funds. You like to do all of the record keeping yourself in the privacy of your own home. For these reasons, you've chosen Intuit® Quicken as your investment software. But, oops! You've discovered Quicken can make you crazy once your investments go beyond stocks, bonds and mutual funds. Here are some tips to make your life easier: Derivatives – Any security that derives its value from some underlying security is called a derivative.
An option to buy stock is known as a "call," whereas an option to sell stock is known as a "put," and both of these are derivatives. Using Quicken, treat the purchase and later sale the same as you would the purchase or sale of a stock, noting the loss or gain. If you hold the option until it expires, you must record a Final Sale transaction, with the sales price as zero. Exercising Puts and Calls – Under normal circumstances, you’d probably just sell the option back to the broker. However, if you end up exercising a "put" option, you must record the sale with a price of zero. To exercise a "call" option, you also record the price as zero.Precious Metals and Commodities – When dealing in precious metals, gold coins, agricultural items and other commodities, you first must determine the unit of measurement. For example, gold is measured by weight according to the "troy ounce." Agricultural commodities may be measured by the bushel or the ton. Each unit of measurement is akin to a share of stock.
So, whether buying or selling, you must record the amount or volume of the sale by noting that it is, for example, 26 troy ounces of gold or 17 bushels of wheat (just as you would record the sale or purchase of 150 shares of stock). Selling Puts and Calls – All you need to remember is that you record the purchase or sale as a regular transaction, regardless of whether the person to whom you sell the "put" then exercises the "put." Zero Coupon Bonds – Most bonds pay periodic interest. However, zero coupon bonds pay all of the interest in a lump sum when the bond matures. To keep track of the accruing value of the zero coupon bond (for personal information and for reporting interest earned), you note the annual interest that appears on the statement from your broker.
The key is to enter the return of capital as a negative value. So, if you accrue $50 in interest on a zero coupon bond, you need to record a return capital transaction of -$50. This is necessary to show the associated cash account’s correct cash balance and the bond's correct cost basis. With so many people handling their own investments, Video Professor® offers a Quicken tutorial.About Video Professor:Video Professor is the industry leader in self-paced computer software tutorials. A wonderful simulation game KINDERGARTEN
Wow… this is the coolest game! I love babies, so playing KINDERGARTEN was so exciting for me! The colors and graphics are great. The details of the babies are amazing! You can totally see kids in their laughing as well as weeping moods. KINDERGARTEN is a fun-filled, colorful and interactive management simulation game where you play Mila, the super sweet owner of the KINDERGARTEN! KINDERGARTEN is a high quality & entertaining cell animation game…which makes this game so incredibly interactive and fun!
Mila Says:
“Hi! I am Mila together we will manage a KINDERGARTEN, this means taking care of babies”
Parents bring their babies to Mila’s KINDERGARTEN, and you have to help Mila take care of the babies. All of these different babies have many different needs and they will for sure keep you occupied! If a baby goes pee-pee or does a doo-doo, you have to help Mila take the baby in her arms and change its diapers! When the baby gets hungry, you will have to help Mila prepare a bottle of formula. Once the bottle is heated up in the Bottle Warmer, Mila can give the bottle to the baby! Usually it takes a while for a bottle to heat up. Once Mila earns more money you will be able to buy a faster Bottle Warmer with her!
You have to make sure that you take good care of the babies and that you keep them happy! The happier the babies are, the more money you can earn from the parents that drop off their babies! If you fail to keep babies happy, you will be penalized and you will not earn any money!
Mila says:
“We will start with two babies and if we do well our KINDERGARTEN will get more babies to take care of. With the money earned, we upgrade the interiors and exteriors of the KINDERGARTEN. Eventually more parents will bring their babies—and the KINDERGARTEN will start to grow!”
Once you earn money in the game, you can start using it to upgrade and expand interiors and exteriors of your KINDERGARTEN! Mila only has a few toys in her KINDERGARTEN, and she plans to buy more toys once she earns more money! You will have to help her!
I love the fact that you can do so much in this simulation game, like hire people. You can chose different types of employees and decide what kind of agency you want to use. Another neat thing is that you can decide whether you want to hire people permanently or just temporarily. The selection of employees to help you run your KINDERGARTEN is great! You can hire a nanny, a receptionist, and more. You can even hire a clown to keep the babies happy! So cool! I love it that you can expand your KINDERGARTEN as well with the real estate agent; like add stuff to it (such as a bedroom, kitchen, etc.). The shop is great! You can buy the greatest stuff to upgrade your KINDERGARTEN from the inside (such as beds, cribs, etc.). This game is definitely a challenge for anyone! Youda Games has really done a good job making this game!

Since YouTube accepts only video files from most digital cameras, camcorders, and cell phones in the WMV, AVI, MOV, and MPEG file formats. But we all know that our PowerPoint presentations are not video formats and Microsoft also doesn’t support this conversion. So we need a third party software to complete this process, and we also don’t want to lose any vice-over, movies, animations and transitions in the PowerPoint during the converting. The converted video PowerPoint presentation should play as the original. A product called Wondershare PPT2Video Converter will make this work like a piece of cake! Wondershare PPT2Video Converter is an all-in-one PowerPoint to video converter. It can convert PowerPoint presentations to almost all popular video formats such as MPEG, AVI, MP4, WMV, ASF, FLV, MOV, 3GP, 3GP2. Ideal for trade show, digital signature, in-store displays and ready for video podcast. You can download the product here to have a free try:

learn better and faster. Demos and examples of models will show you how complex
information can be turned into simplified overviews. http://www.vignettestraining.com/preview-main-workshop.htm
Pasadena, CA September 2007 - Vignettes for Training (VFT), an e-Learning consulting and development firm presents some demos and examples of Knowledge Maps to illustrate how they help online learners learn faster and better.
Many e-Learners usually complain: "I am lost in so much content." e-Learning programs are just too long and too hard for learners to rapidly grasp or instantly get a gist of the ideas. This is where "Interactive Knowledge Maps" work best. Knowledge Maps help online learners obtain a bird’s-eye view – a view of the forest and not the trees. "These models help e-learning developers visualize how to design and approach mapping of complex information into simplified overviews, according to Ray Jimenez, PhD, Chief Learning Architect for Vignettes for Training, Inc.
These are the models:
o Process Flow
o Organizational Relationships
o Content Overviews
To preview the models visit this link and click "Knowledge Maps."
